“Nailed it!” The Netflix sensation that about sums up my baking and cake decorating talents. I would fit in perfectly on this show! I am your typical home baker, cakes made from a box, and horrible attempts at decorating. Check it out here:
I was never a cake lover. I found cakes typically be too dry and I was not a fan of frosting. Then I met my husband and got to know his friend and his wife, Barb. Barb had a home bakery. She completely reformed me with her baking. She created the most amazing cakes I had ever tasted! The perfect light, melt-in-your-mouth texture combined with the most amazing creamy, buttery cream cheese buttercream frosting! I was a cake-loving convert! Check out my inspiration:
Moving back to Michigan, I have searched for someone who could even come close to recreating her phenomenal cakes. No luck! My goal is to be able to make and decorate a cake that is picture worthy, and not in the Netflix sensation, “Nailed it!”, style. Check out my video below to see where my journey begins.
Throughout my Network Learning Project, I will be using different sources of information to gain an understanding of how to bake and decorate phenomenal cakes. My sources of information will include YouTube, Social Media Platforms, and different help forums to help transform my skill set from those of a novice to an expert. According to Bransford et al., (2000), “experts have acquired a great deal of content knowledge that is organized in ways that reflect a deep understanding of their subject matter” (31).
